In 2007 Manu Laude created
his London-based Manu Laude Company (MLC) to
build a team of talented artists, choreographers
and directors to reinvent the way audiences
experience live entertainment.
MLC creates performances for all types of events
and productions: from large scale festivals
to smaller energetic family shows which can
be choreographed to enhance other modern visual
mediums, be it film or video to create unique
and original performances for various themed
events: from sport to comedy, to high artistry.
MLC can also choreograph to various musical
forms, be it an MC, to DJ, a pre-recorded soundtrack
or a live Opera and Symphony Orchestra.
MLC specializes in creating productions which
combine modern, contemporary, street and hip
hop dance with object manipulation, acrobatics
and any type of artistic skills. That basically
means that artists perform their dance routines
and unique artistic skills while throwing any
type of prop around and at each other. Props
have included everything from machetes to buckets,
spades, brooms, hats, pens, books, basketballs,
torches, bottles, fruits, bricks, bicycles and
mobile phones. MLC also likes a challenge: you
provide a prop and we'll devise a trick around
it.
Productions can also be tailored to involve
non-performers and local community members -
be it spontaneous or work shopped - to create
fun, interactive and community engaging shows.
Leading the MLC team is director Manu Laude,
whose professional career as a choreographer
and performer spans more than a decade and has
seen him entertain audiences - as a solo artist
and company performer - in more than 20 countries
around the world.
Manu's MLC team can perform existing productions
or create original shows for any sized audience
or venue. From a 30 seconds advertisement to
a full two hour long performance, MLC has a
catalogue of prepared shows and sequences suitable
for stage shows, galas, theatres, operas, photo
shoots, video shoots, television shows, advertisements,
marketing campaigns, product launches, corporate
events and festivals.
MLC's professional artists include acrobats,
gymnasts, street dancers, free runners, aerialists,
acrobalance, equilibrists, flair artists, basketball
freestylers, football freestylers, modern dancers,
contemporary dancers, tap dancers, break dancers,
musicians, orchestra conductors, costume designers,
fashion designers, lighting designers, choreographers
and artistic directors.
MLC is also an agency to help independent productions
find directors, choreographers and performers
for productions outside of the MLC program.
In 2008, MLC expanded into opera, with choreographer/co-director
Manu Laude successfully introducing contemporary
and break dance to the Orpheus & Eurydike Opera
at Berlin's Bode Museum, which resulted in sell-out
shows.
Other highlight client performances include
Wembley stadium, O2 arena, Stade de France,
The Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Centre, English
National Ballet, Berlin's Wintergarten, TOCC
Berlin, Dubai's Mall of the Emirates, Circus
Space, and special performances for Prince Charles
and The Queen of England.
